In short
Mixtayp works without an account. If you don't sign in, what the app remembers stays on your phone and never reaches us. If you choose to sign in, we store your library so it syncs across your devices, and you can delete it any time. We don't show ads, track you across other apps, or sell anything about you. With your permission, which you can turn off any time, the app counts which features get used so we can make it better.
Without an account
Your stations and their settings, songs you've liked, played or hidden, the artists you listen to, a list of which YouTube video matches which song, and your settings are kept in your phone's app storage. Clear them any time in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.
With an account
Signing in is optional. When you sign in with Google or with an emailed link, we store:
- Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Firebase assigns your account an ID.
- Your library: your stations and their settings, liked songs, hidden songs, the artists you listen to, your most recent 6,000 played songs with the time you last heard each one, and your explicit-songs setting.
We use this only to sync your library between your devices and to build your personal mixes, like Daily Mixtayp. It's stored with Google Firebase, sent over encrypted connections, and only your signed-in account can read it.
Usage statistics
Mixtayp uses Google Analytics to count how the app is used, for example how many people start a station, skip a song, use full screen, or sign in, and whether songs played as videos or previews. It also receives standard details like your device type, app version, approximate location from your IP address, and a random ID stored on your device so repeat visits can be counted. We don't send song titles, artist names, your searches, or your account details, and we've turned off Google's advertising features for this data. Turn this off any time in Settings under Share usage stats.
The shared song list
To save everyone from searching YouTube for the same song twice, when a signed-in listener's app finds the YouTube video for a song, it saves the match (an artist and song title, and a YouTube video ID) to a list all Mixtayp apps can read. The list doesn't say who added a match or who listened.
Services the app uses
To find and play music, Mixtayp sends what you search for, like an artist, genre or song name, to these services. They receive ordinary technical details such as your IP address when that happens. We don't store your searches.
YouTube. Full songs and music videos come from YouTube through the YouTube API Services. Using them is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. Mixtayp does not access your YouTube account.
Deezer provides song details, artwork, similar artists and previews. See Deezer's privacy policy.

Last.fm may provide songs for genre and mood stations. See Last.fm's privacy policy.

When you cast to a TV, your phone's casting service handles the connection.
Deleting your data
Delete your account in the app under Account, Delete account, or on our account deletion page. This permanently removes your account and your library from our database right away. Your phone keeps its own copy until you clear it or uninstall the app. You can also email to ask us to delete it for you.
What we don't do
No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, no advertising use of your data, and no selling of your data. Mixtayp isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
